Ashly

Michelle's question:
In True Notebooks there has been many characters that have had to leave. The one that sticks out me the most is Jimmy Wu. On page 205 he reads that last story he will ever read or write in Mark's class. He writes about his trail. He tells his sentencing, how the lawyers attempt to minimize his time in prison failed. he was sentenced to fifteen years and eight months, with two strikes. He feels like he wasn't given a chance. He was now has to stay in the box before heading off to a real prison. Prison is much different than a juvenile hall. He now hows to deal with older men who are much different than the boys, he faces a huge possibility of assault and rape in this new facility. These prisoners do not care that he is young, they do not care about him. He now has to toughen up a lot more and can not show any emotion or write how he did in Marks class. I think it is going to be a hard transition for him.

  1. Ashly, i like how you choose one character from the book and explained his challenges and how he plans on facing them. I think his sentencing says a lot about the juvenile system. Also, not to be mean but proof read before posting =]
