Day 11: Chris

Michelle Response:

Marjane faces the challenge of being in a new place where she knows no one and I think that's the hardest challenge anyone can face. To have to start all the way over by yourself at such a young age is beyond tough to me and takes a lot of courage. Marjane charges into this challenge with her head up unaware of what other problems might show its ugly head. She soon realizes that all the comforts from home like her parents aren't around anymore and that she no longer has that comfort zone that was once there. Not only does she face the challenge of being alone, but also learning a brand new culture. Coming from a place where everything is so strict and very reserve to somewhere where you can basically do whatever you want can take time. Some people wouldn't know what to do with so much freedom and Marjane handles the situation well. Even with all this new found freedom Marjane manages to discover and experience new things but at the same time it makes her question herself. She felt she shouldn't be so care free while people in her country are dying everyday and this is a challenge within itself. Marjane also never has a steady home since her move to the new country. To have to constantly go from home to home is no easy task and after awhile it can begin to take its toll. With all these challenges Marjane still is herself and slowly but surely one can tell she will overcome each and everyone.
