Michelle Response

Marjane faces a different view of society when she is in Vienna because as she moves to a boarding house by the nuns. She is in a different culture and religion and she seen her friend Shirin with different things like fashion things. And Marjane probably hasn't seen those in her country. I feel that Marjane has to become independent for herself while she is in Vienna. And she gets to have a room mate and they become friends. Marjane learns to speak french and I think it's better for her to communicate with people so in the future she would already know the language. Also in my opinion I feel that she faces more freedom because she gets to wear what she wants. And she doesn't have to worry about the fundamentalist women harassing her. And it's a relieve for her so she can go to school and get educated properly not like she did in Iran. And when she attends school she makes new friends that are interesting. Marjane gets more comfortable with them and they end up being a group. And everybody has a different style. And Marjane changes for example when her friend Momo kissed her on her lips she noticed he greeted people in his own way it goes to show her that everybody is different in their own way. And they are interested in her life in Iran so she isn't an outsider she fits in and feels comfortable with that. And she faces a lot of challenges in Vienna a better education for herself she doesn't have to worry about the war that much. She probably thinks most of her parents and I feel that she needs to sacrifice because she was the lucky ones to get sent to a different country to safe her life. I understand what she is coming from feeling lonely sometimes it can make you feel down sometimes. I just think that these are new challenges for her and she seems to be doing well. I just think she wishes her parents can be with her she always had been close with them. Overall she faces a lot of new experiences in Vienna maybe it's for the good education she gets or a safer environment. She is becoming a young adult for example shopping on her own buying her own food. She probably wants to become independent for herself and for her parents to be proud of her. And she does have her ups and downs in Vienna but she never gives up. I feel that she has faith inside her no matter what and she probably is going to see live differently.
