Bashkim Response
The one huge obstacle that is in the way for everyone in "The Complete Persepolis" is the war. This is the one thing everyone in the book has to get through in order to survive. The war is what everyone is fighting against with every turn of a page and throughout the book the fight isn't doing anything but getting harder and harder. The people of Iran are pushing for a victory but this war is one tough cookie to crush. I myself have never had to deal with something this big in my life, the only huge obstacle I had in life was graduating from high school. I fought hard for my diploma just like the people of Iran are fighting hard for their freedom and for the war to end. I did morning school, Saturday school, night school all in hopes of graduating and of course I succeeded. This made me learn that with enough will power any obstacle in your path can be conquered as long as work hard enough to do so. I believe this is the same mentally that the people of Iran have when it comes to this war, because many don't show any signs of giving up which is important. If you a faced with an obstacle giving up will not make the obstacle go away but instead the obstacle will always be there lingering. This is why you must work hard to conquer anything in your path in hopes of every succeeding in life. Many people we look up have had their share of obstacles and they wouldn't be where they are if they hadn't overcome them. If anything this what we must learn from them in hopes of becoming something in life.
Carmelo Response:
I conform to my group of friends, why? Because they are the people I enjoy being around and also the people I look up to. Without them I doubt I would be the person I am today, considering the fact I've learned a lot from them over the time period I've know them. I think this is what the writing class is trying to stimulate. I feel I am around a group of friends with similar talents and dreams all with hopes of making it where we want to be in life. We should all become very close in my opinion because we all are after one big goal and that's admittance to Columbia College. When people told me if you hang around anyone long enough they start to rub off on you and I believe that's true. I'm surrounded by nothing but positive people who have big dreams just like I do and now I'm working harder than I ever had. So yes I think conforming to the right people can have its awesome rewards but the same holds true if you conform around the wrong types of people. Now this is where we have to ask that question if what we are doing is right and as of right now my answer is yes. I wouldn't want to be around any other people than I am now seeing as we all are working hard to accomplish our goals. In my eyes conforming is a double edged sword it can either help you or it can mess you up. You just have to making the right decisions at the end of the day.
