There will always be people out there that will just simply not like you or have had enough of your company. A time where reality really knocked me off my feet was when I had a really bad break up with my ex girlfriend. Things were not really going to well at the end of our relationship. This was something that came out the blue and could not really figure out what happened. Just because you’re trying to think good thoughts about something doesn’t always mean the other person will be doing the same. Having this happen to me took its toll, but at the same time it helped me in a way. It made me think how people really can be very surprising in a bad way at times. This situation relates to the book True notebooks in a way because the kids in the writing class feel like everything is going smooth and they might feel like they’re progressing. But what happens then is a fight breaks loose and because of that, the boys and everyone else were on lockdown. I’m guessing they were thinking to themselves that they do not deserve this happening to them because they were progressing educationally and doing better concerning behavior and cooperation with authority figures. Having this happen to me got me mad me realize how much it helped. It made me stronger as a person because before this happened I thought that when things are going right, nothing can go wrong. What popped in my head was that just because you might think all is well, there are people out there that make themselves happy in a way that you really haven’t thought of and might not understand. Having things happen to me and me having to deal with it on my own is a good and bad thing. Yeah it does suck that you might have to fight on your own but at the same time it prepares you for it in the future. One thing that the kids in the book are realizing is that you have to try to make things better. What the boys are trying is that they are behaving and letting things be the way they are in juvenile hall.

Having to feel like there is an angel and devil inside of you; in my opinion I think it’s good. But for the boys in juvenile hall, obviously it isn’t that great. There was not a good balance between the two for the boys. I feel like everyone that is locked up are having to struggle with this issue. Some are dealing with this in a bad way. Some don’t try to deal with it at all and make things worse. The boys in Mark's class deal with the issue. Although the devil's side brought them to juvenile hall, the angels side is what is making them better kids all around.
