The kids in True Notebooks face many obstacles in their life and now that they are locked up, they seem to find new obstacles daily. These obstacles they find are more than just literal, they seem to challenge their minds in a way that they realize certain things. Knowing is half the battle and these boys are only halfway there. An obstacle for these boys is true happiness. It is very challenging to look on the brighter side of things when everything around them really is on the darker side. They are full from what they have had in the past and their problem is facilitating everything out. One of the boys is facing a hard time with their mother because of how bad he feels for her. She tries and tries but Patrick knows in his mind that nothing will change and nothing will help him no matter what his mom could do for him. Another problem is that Nathaniel cannot remember the good things from his past and only remembers vivid memories. This shows that the boy really gave up on who he was and just focused on what he wanted to be and that could bite him back which it did. There are two obstacles that Nathaniel really faces. Trying to remember what he was and to try finding peace with himself. What these boys are lacking in is finding who they really are and what they can make out of it. Feeling like you have to do something better than another person is too great because you feel insecure and also you don’t feel too happy with yourself.

Carmelo
Being in a writing class immediately tells me that whoever is in it, has knowledge and really knows what they are doing. Writing is one of the best ways to actually bringing yourself out into the world and it is very simple to do. What the writing class is doing for these boys is that it is bringing positive ideas to their heads. It is making them realize what they have done and it is also cleansing their minds in a way. When the boys are writing their hearts out on paper and read it over, they see their weaknesses and realize that showing their weaknesses can be good and a big help to bring people into their lives. Contributing to this class will make them think more about the things they do and the people they interact with. With that being said, the type the friends they will have will be way different from their previous friends and I am sure that will bring great things into each and every one of these boy’s lives. In school it seemed like it was cool to be part a certain type of group. I broke the seal and made many friends in different types of groups.
